Paint : The Inspiration to be Brave

"Paint" ~ A Five Minute Friday Writing Prompt

Paint. The word makes me feel excited about possibility and potential,
but also terrified of at the same time. What am I really afraid of… in art? In Life?

I am afraid that if I step outside the bounds of what is normal, safe and accepted…
if I explore my braver, more creative side,
I will discover that I am a failure… that I am ordinary and insignificant.

I am afraid of uncovering the truth…

waiting4rufus replied to your post:Overwhelmed Mommies, Finding Ever-Elusive Balance

Some great balance advice I was given was to assign recurring house chores to a set day. I have found that the more I can set in a routine pattern that works for me, the less I have to spend energy thinking about how and when to do it. I also prep dinner during nap time and…

You are right, and getting it down on paper and being consistent makes it so much easier. <3

I did something similar. My mom sat down with me a few weeks ago and helped me come up with a plan. Basically I do one or two simple things every day. So I spend 5-15 minutes a day (usually during nap time), depending on the task, and over the course of a week pretty much every thing gets done and and my house stays pretty clean regularly.

So, like our apartment is small so as an example every Tuesday I might vacuum it, Mondays I’d dust everything, Fridays do laundry (this one takes longer), Thursdays I wash the sheets… Wednesdays I wash the hard floors. Twice a month I meal plan… I make sure all the dishes are done and counters wiped down every day, and have all the toys picked up before I go to bed. So by doing a little bit every day it is broken up, and my house is rarely ever very messy now. It works well for me so I don’t have just one massive cleaning day every week, and it only takes 5-15 minutes for the most part.

The down side is you miss out on the satisfaction of having the whole house completely clean at one time, even if its for like 5 minutes, if you do all the cleaning in one day. But because I am doing it all every week it dirt doesn’t really accumulate much. I also have a few once a month tasks like cleaning the stove and microwave.

There is more that goes into it, but that is a simplified version of what we have been trying. I’m going to be posting a sample of my week pretty soon. Its nice to have feedback and hear ideas!

Hope you are doing well!! Give our love to the family!
